Open Question: Writers: Some advice, please?

I’m considering adding a potentially scandalous plot-twist, but I was wondering if it might be offensive.
Basically, my main character got her memory wiped by the bad guy because he wanted to use her for his evil deeds. I was thinking, though, that maybe she has a child. But because she has no recollection of her former life, she feels no love toward the child, and consequently abandons it/gives it back to its adoptive parents. Obviously she wouldn’t know she was a mother until I introduced the twist, but do you think it would be offensive? Do you think it might turn certain readers off?
Also, if you’re into giving honest critique, I would really appreciate some

I just realised my summary doesn’t make a lot of sense.
If you need clarification just ask, and I’ll edit it in. Bear in mind that if you do ask, though, I’d appreciate if you came back to finish your answer.
Thanks!
